Stephen Williams - Lib Dem candidate for WECA Mayor

I met with the Transport for Greater Bristol Alliance and Zero West on 6 April to discuss this manifesto and also my own manifesto for the West of England. I have a full manifesto with lots of transport policies (https://www.stephenwilliams.org.uk/manifesto) as do my Bristol colleagues for the city council.

Our reply:

Dear Stephen Williams,

Your manifesto has some excellent points on transport - many that are also in our manifesto e.g. bus franchising, night buses, and improved walking and cycling routes, and some good ideas we hadn't thought of such as pocket park and rides.  We also very much appreciate the concrete proposals of how you plan to implement the actions you have in your manifesto.

There are a few items in our manifesto which we urge you to also include, for example an integrated transport authority, integrated ticketing across all modes of transport, the construction of Bristol's first modern tram line, and free bus travel for under 18s. We therefore urge you to formally endorse our manifesto to include these commitments.

If you are elected to WECA Mayor, we would be keen to work with you to implement the transport aspirations that we share.  We are planning to continue our campaign development over the next few months, including further engagement with a wide range of communities, and are committed to making WECA's transport accessible, affordable and effective for everyone. You clearly are too, and this is good to see.

Best wishes,

Moving Bristol Forward campaign
