First West of England Sustainable Transport Forum

The first West of England Sustainable Transport Forum took place on the 16th May 2022 . Our aim is to host this forum to create a space for civic organisations and groups across the WECA and North Somerset region to get together to discuss public transport and active travel.

All the notes and presentations from the meeting are available here.

We invited representatives of several organisations to share their insights, including:

  • Pauline Harris, Families Acting on Climate Emergency (FACE), Bath. slides here

  • Emma Geen, Bristol Disability Equality Forum (BDEF): slides here

  • Judith Brown, Bristol Older People’s Forum (BOPF): (no slides)

  • Tim Weekes, Friends of Suburban Bristol Railways (FoSBR): slides here

  • Ian Pond, Bristol Cycling Campaign: slides here

Ideas we discussed included focused discussions getting into the nitty gritty of shared use of space:

  • Engaging with disabled people and older people around Liveable Neighbourhoods so that their concerns were dealt with from the start.

  • Cyclists and walkers could work together with tram initiatives around clean air, building on Edinburgh experience.

  • Developing a unified and agreed Forum approach about what our objectives are.
